Injured passenger abandoned by early morning crash driver

Police are hunting a driver who abandoned their injured passenger after a crash at Kings Meadows. The passenger was taken to hospital by ambulance.

A DRIVER who their car at Kings Meadows in the early hours of Wednesday morning abandoned their injured passenger and fled the scene when police arrived.

Sergeant Gavin Chugg said the person crashed a blue Mitsubishi sedan on Hobart Rd just before 2am on Wednesday.

“The passenger of the vehicle, a 33-year-old female from Launceston, was treated at the scene by Ambulance Tasmania and was taken to the Launceston General Hospital with minor injuries,” he said.

Launceston Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or has any surveillance footage to the blue Mitsubishi Magna sedan in the Kings Meadows or Newstead area prior to the crash.
