Home invasion: An elderly woman woke in the early hours to find three burglars in her home

An elderly woman in the north of the state woke up in the early hours of Sunday morning to find the three intruders in her home.

POLICE say an elderly woman awoke in the early hours of Sunday morning to find three intruders burgling her Caveside home near Mole Creek in the state’s North.

Police are seeking assistance from the public as they investigate the alleged aggravated burglary.

Detective Sergeant Joe Riley said the alleged offenders were on the woman’s property for about 10 minutes about 3am and stole a number of items including jewellery, watches, a phone and a computer.

“The resident was home alone at the time of the burglary and was not physically injured,” he said.

“The offenders were not armed.”

Launceston CIB has asked anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the burglary to contact police.
