Drug dog sniffs out package leading to alleged major drug trafficking and firearms bust

A POLICE dog named PD Fang has allegedly sniffed out another ice haul leading authorities to a house in Hadspen where drugs and guns were found.
Tasmania Police on Tuesday charged two men and seized a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine, firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition of various types after a search of the Northern Tasmanian property.
Earlier this month, police conducted routine screening of mail coming into Tasmania.
A concealment of ice allegedly destined for an address in the small town was found.
Officers from Northern Drug Investigation Services and Launceston CIB swooped on the address on Monday where they allegedly found drugs, firearms and ammunition.
Hadspen man Troy Anthony Gall, 26, was later charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, firearms offences and breaching a Police Family Violence Order.
He appeared in Launceston Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to all charges before being granted bail.
Magistrate Sharon cure set the trafficking matter down for trial in the Supreme Court.
A 28-year-old Kings Meadows man was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and firearms offences and was bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court in December.
Police said the seizure was one of many by the Tasmania Police Drug Detection Dog “PD Fang”.
In late May the police dog sniffed out 112 grams of methylamphetamine and a 44-year-old Invermay woman was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, unlawfully importing a controlled substance, use a controlled drug and possess a controlled drug.
Last week, police seized seven firearms and 7000 rounds of ammunition from an address in Newnham.
A 64-year-old man has been charged on summons with drug offences, possession of stolen firearms and failing to comply with relevant firearms storage offences.
