AT a time when the only music news seems to be of anticipated festivals and tours being cancelled, Tasmania now has an exciting event to look forward to.

In a coup for the state, globally renowned pop duo the Veronicas have announced a headline show supported by Tkay Maidza, Jaycee and local act Kudo Joy at The Goods Shed in Hobart on December 30.

The twin sisters originally from Brisbane have had ten top ten hits, three number ones, more than 500 million digital streams and have received several ARIA Awards.

Vandemonian Touring director Brendan Self said booking such a high calibre act to play in Tasmania over the New Year period was a coup.

“The Veronicas are superstars and were very excited to be bringing them to Hobart,” he said.

“This show is a prelude to the amazing line-up we have already announced for New Year’s Eve including The Jungle Giants and Yacht Club DJs.

“We have one more incredible show still to announce that will take place on December 29.

“This series of gigs will create a real party for Tasmanians in the absence of events such as the Falls Festival.”

Mr Self said he was optimistic restrictions would be lifted allowing the gigs to go ahead.

“Gigs like this put millions of dollars into the Tasmanian economy and create hundreds of jobs in sectors hardest hit by this pandemic.”

The Veronicas – Jessica and Lisa Origliasso – were teenagers when they moved to LA, signed a record deal and released their first album, The Secret Life Of…., which included three top ten singles.

The Veronicas created globally loved hits such as 4ever and Untouched, which was the first Australian single to sell more than a million copies digitally in the USA.

After a break from music The Veronicas released the single Think Of Me in 2019, which amassed millions of streams and critical acclaim.

It was the most added song to Australian radio the week of release and was certified gold soon after.

Presale ticket go live on Saturday from 9am.

General admission tickets are $65 plus a booking fee.
