The Pines jewellery store at Elanora targeted by ram raid
Police are investigating after jewellery was stolen in a ram raid at Elanora overnight but the offenders’ hope for a swift getaway did not go according to plan.
A haul of jewellery has been stolen from an Elanora shopping centre overnight, but the offenders’ plan for a swift getaway went awry when their vehicle became stuck between a bollard and a wall.
A Gold Coast police spokeswoman said the vehicle was driven into Prouds the Jewellers inside The Pines on KP McGrath Drive just after midnight on Friday.
The vehicle then reversed into a jewellery store to smash their way inside and a quantity of jewellery was stolen.
“The vehicle was attempted to be driven out of the shopping centre but got stuck between a wall and a bollard causing the offenders to flee on foot,” the spokeswoman said.
Police are investigating and anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage is urged to contact them.
