Territorians urged to bring 'full pockets and empty bellies' to massive Green Ant Craft Fair
Territorians can tick off their entire Christmas shopping list at one event as Darwin's biggest craft fair celebrates a milestone anniversary this weekend.
The Green Ant Craft Fair, a vibrant celebration of creativity and community, has returned for its 35th year, with organisers promising Territorians a weekend full of entertainment.
Formerly the Marrara Christmas Craft Fair, the event will be held at the Marrara Netball Stadium on November 29-30 from 9am-4pm, with $4 presales, $5 at the door and children under 16 free.
Event organiser Hannah Swales said there was always a big turnout at the fair, and anticipated a strong attendance of about 7000 patrons across the weekend.
Ms Swales, running the event for her second year, said the event was “basically a huge shopping bonanza”, with more than 155 stalls.
“Within those stalls, you’ve got everything you can possibly imagine – from visual art to consumables to clothing to earrings to jewellery – you name it, it’s going to be here,” she said.
“There’s going to be 11 food trucks as well, so all kinds of cuisines, you’ve got dumplings, popcorn, Korean chicken – you’ve got everything there.
“You’ve also got kids entertainment: there’s going to be Fairy Jilly here from 12pm-2pm on both days, and the Green Ant, who’s been a bit mischievous running around town, is going to make an appearance.
“Santa is going to arrive for two days as well.”
She invited Territorians to head along to the fair.
“Come with full pockets and empty bellies, and come cross every present that you need to off your shopping list,” she said.
“You could do it all in one trip.”
