A pair of teenagers accused of stealing a car and going on a ram raiding spree have been brought before NT youth court, with both kids to stay on remand.

On Monday morning, a 14 year-old boy – who cannot legally be named due to his age – appeared in Darwin Local Court charged with sixteen offences, including recklessly endangering life, two counts of ram raiding and aggravated robbery.

His 17 year-old female co-accused was charged with five offences.

Police allege that on Friday the 14 year-old boy was due to face NT youth court when he removed his electronic monitoring device and fled the premises.

When his absence became known, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

It is alleged that at around 1.35am on Saturday, the 14 year-old boy and his 17 year-old co-accused approached a man at a service station in Coconut Grove, where they grabbed the victim from behind and demanded his car keys.

Police say a physical struggle followed, but came to an end when the teenagers allegedly threatened the man with a knife.

After the victim handed over his car keys, the pair allegedly used the vehicle to ram raid a business in Eaton and stole a quantity of alcohol.

Authorities identified the stolen vehicle shortly before 4am and initiated a car chase.

It is alleged the pair then drove the vehicle to the Darwin Waterfront and rammed a convenience store before stealing tobacco.

At about 3.45am, authorities initiated a car chase after sighting the stolen vehicle in Coconut Grove.

The pursuit passed through Millner and back into Coconut Grove, where the vehicle was abandoned on Litchfield Court and a foot pursuit occurred.

In court, the 14 year-old boy was supported by his mother.

It was heard the boy had three separate legal matters which were yet to be finalised.

Details of the allegations were not read to the court.

The boy did not apply for bail.

When the 17 year-old co-accused appeared, the court noted no ‘responsible adult’ was in the body of the court to support her.

The court heard she also had two further legal matters which were yet to be resolved.

She did not apply for bail either.

Both teens will return to NT youth court on July 21 for a preliminary examination mention.
