Teen fights for life after sickening alleged assault at Burleigh
An 18-year-old man is fighting for life after suffering serious injuries in an alleged assault on the Gold Coast, with a Brisbane man charged.
A Brisbane man has been charged over an alleged assault which has left a young Gold Coast teen fighting for life in hospital.
A 27-year-old woman was walking along Christine Avenue at Varsity Lakes just after 10.30pm Friday when she discovered an 18-year-old Carrara man unconscious with serious head injuries.
She called emergency services before a man emerged from nearby and allegedly assaulted her.
The man was caught a short time later and police will allege the 34-year-old was responsible for both assaults as well as spitting on a police officer.
He has been charged with grievous bodily harm, common assault and serious assault of a police officer.
The man, of Moggil, was due to face Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday.
The young woman was taken to hospital in a stable condition while the 18-year-old man was taken with “potentially life-threatening injuries”.
