STABILISATION work at the former Beaconsfield Mine site has been completed.
The Beaconsfield Mine became the focus of international media for a fortnight after a rockfall trapped two miners Todd Russell and Brent Webb in 2006. Miner Larry Knight was killed instantly.

The intricate rescue mission captivated people around the world until the miners were rescued on May 9, 2006.
Now the site of the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre it was discovered two years ago that the site was unstable and that immediate remediation was necessary.
Under the Australian Government — State Government Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) Program, West Tamar Council received funds to undertake the Stabilisation Project of Beaconsfield Mine.
The Federal Government contributed $750,000.
Liberal Senator David Bushby said it was pleasing to see the necessary works had been successfully completed.
