THE families of students at a Southern Tasmanian primary school have been notified after a “foreign object” was found in an apple.
A post on Windermere Primary School’s Facebook page yesterday said a student discovered the object after biting into the apple. The student did not swallow the object.
The student’s mother and police were called immediately and the Department of Education was notified.
The post — a picture of a letter sent home with students — said police determined the object had been in the apple “for a number of days”.
The letter said the apple was bought on Thursday from a supermarket, which has been notified of the incident, and police have interviewed the student and her family.
