Hamish Blake's epic birthday cake for son

From children’s birthday cakes to multi-tier wedding cakes and realistic food, Tasmania has some talented bakers.

When we asked readers to nominate their favourite cake baker in Tassie, we were inundated with names — with more than 1700 comments.

And due to the popularity of the poll, we have now extended the voting until 9am Monday — so be quick in casting your final votes.

As of 5pm Friday, here are the frontrunners:

1. Cake Queen Oz

2. Graceful Baking - Tiaana Grace Takawe

3. Scrumptious - Sophie Wilson

4. Cake a Chance on Belinda

5. My Sweet Tucker - Toni Tucker

6. Chelsea Podmore - Chelsea Clare Cakes

7. Creating Cakes - Lisa Morgan

8. Sarah Collins - HELP! I Need a Cake!

9. Sweet Envy

10. Freckle

Hannah at The Buttercream Dream was one of the dozens of talented bakers nominated.

“Hannah is extremely committed to creating the most perfect cake there is,” Samantha Stevenson said.

“It’s not surprising when she remakes a cake because it doesn’t make her standard. Hannah is self taught and has made the most beautiful pieces with great love.”

Sarah Collins was another early favourite among readers, who runs Help! I Need a Cake at Launceston and also teaches children how to cook.

“She is truly amazing at what she does and her time management is off the charts,” Bam Bam said.

“I don’t know how you do it! And how you think of all these concepts! Cakes, fondant work, chocolate work, cupcake, biscuits, slices etc etc. If you can think of anything you want to be edible she can make it edible.”

Meanwhile, Cake Queen Oz was nominated multiple times by readers for her stunning creations.

Cake Queens Oz is responsible for a number of stunning life-like creations, such as the KFC feast pictured above.

Luke Goddard was one of the many happy customers who nominated his dad, Mike Goddard, who runs Angel Cakes.

“One would say I am biased. But I have had the pleasure to see the cakes he has made over my life time. Not only does he decorate, he has some amazing flavoured cake recipes up his sleeve. He’s passionate about cakes and i would say making people feel special on their day is one of the things that keeps my dad decorating/baking to this very day.”

Vote now for your favourite in our shortlist. Voting closes 9am Friday, May 21.
