Bass Highway crash

Update: 10:30am, Friday March 25

A man in his 50s has died and another is fighting for life after a horror crash on the Bass Highway this morning.

Tasmania Police were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash at Carrick around 6:20am.

Shortly after that incident a truck collided with three cars and a motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist died at the scene and another man driving a white Toyota Hilux was airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition with serious injuries.

A man who was driving a Mitsubishi dual-cab and a man who was driving an Amarok dual-cab received non-life threatening injuries.

The truck driver was not physically injured.

Anyone with information or relevant dash cam footage, is asked to contact police on 131 444. Information can be provided anonymously.

Representatives from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator are investigating.

6:45am, Friday March 25

Police and emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash on the Bass Highway involving a truck, motorcyclist and multiple vehicles at Carrick.

Multiple people have reportedly been seriously injured and are trapped.

The accident happened just before the Carrick turn off.

The highway has been closed at Travellers Rest with authorities urging drivers to avoid the area.

The section of the Bass Highway, Carrick between Illawarra Road and Meander Valley Road (Travellers Rest Roundabout) off ramp will be closed for several hours.

Serious crash at Dover

Update: Thursday, March 24

A person has been seriously injured in a car collision in the Huon Valley.

Tasmania Police remain at the scene of the incident which occured some time before 3.23pm on Thursday.

Two vehicles crashed at the intersection of the Huon Hwy and Craggs Rd, Dover, prompting a rescue helicopter to be dispatched.

Two people were taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital - one with minor injuries, the other with serious injuries.

Tasmania Police expect to have the road cleared soon.

Thursdsay, March 24

The rescue helicopter is en route to the scene of a serious car crash in Tasmania’s south at Dover.

Police and emergency services are at the site of the accident at the intersection of the Huon Highway and Craggs Road reportedly providing medical treatment to two people.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area.

Serious injuries in Midland Highway crash

Wednesday, March 23

A man has been seriously injured in a two vehicle crash on the Midland Highway near Jericho in Central Tasmania.

The crash happened shortly after 1pm on Wednesday.

According to police, two people received medical treatment at the scene before the driver of ne car was taken to hospital by ambulance with what are believed to be serious injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle did not require transport to hospital.

The crash occurred roughly 1km north of Jericho.

The highway has since been cleared.
