A NEW short film has given Tasmanian children in out-of-home care the chance to share their opinions and feelings on how services could be improved to meet their needs.
The film titled Putting Children First by the CREATE Foundation was released in Hobart on Tuesday to coincide with Child Protection Week.
Former foster child Jubilee White, 20, who appears in the film, said she was thankful to her previous Child Safety Officer for supporting to transition to independence and young adulthood.
“I would like to thank all CSO’s, like my previous CSO, who go above and beyond to support the children and young people on their caseload, with all the essentials, that make a young person’s experience in care, one of comfort and support,” she said.
CREATE Foundations Tasmanian Coordinator Danni Ashton said Tuesday’s film launch organised by Out of Home Care organisations and the Moonah Rotary was a wonderful way to thank people who work in child safety services.
“This event has been a great opportunity to screen the Putting Children First short film created by CREATE Foundation which features inspiring thoughts of what putting children first means to Tasmanian children and young people in care,” Ms Ashton said.
CREATE Foundation is the national consumer body representing the voices of children and young people with an out-of-home care experience.
The short film can be viewed on the Foundation’s YouTube channel.
