The completion of major upgrades to the Hobart bus mall will see it reopen next month
The Hobart City Council has revealed which date the Hobart the bus mall will reopen following a lengthy redevelopment.

The Hobart bus mall will open next month following the completion of redevelopment works.
The $2 million facelift to the city’s main bus mall, which has included bus shelter upgrades and footpath redesign, is part of a wider five-year project to improve public transport facilities at the precinct.
The Hobart City Council has committed $1.8 million to the upgrades while a further $200,000 as funded by the state government.
Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds said the improvements would be a major boost for public transport users in Hobart when the bus mall reopens on 11 October.
“Supporting public passenger transport is a key priority of the City of Hobart,” Cr Reynolds said.
Other developments under the Hobart Bus Interchange Upgrade include upgrades to the bus shelters at Franklin Square and improvements to the public toilets there.
A new bus shelter was also installed in Liverpool St, while works were completed near the Hobart General Post Office to create more footpath room and passenger waiting space.
