The iconic Taste of Summer festival will officially kick off at PW1 on Wednesday, transforming the Hobart waterfront into a hive of activity and enticing tourists and locals alike with offerings from 90 food and drink stalls.
Festival curator Jo Cook said the weather forecast was looking favourable for the opening day and ticket sales were “really strong”.
“We’re not sure how many people will come through the doors but tomorrow will be what it will be,” she said.
“There’s so much beautiful fresh produce – food and drink … from all around the world.
“There is a beautiful space on the waterfront for everyone to sit. There’s lots of seating in the shade under the trees.
“There’s a massive new main stage. There’s live music, there’s entertainment for kids, there’s a beautiful space for families. And free entry every night after 8.30pm.”
Ms Cook said the Taste was a “unique festival for Tasmania”.
“It’s in an amazing location on the waterfront, with great views across Salamanca to kunanyi/Mount Wellington. It’s a special place and it’s a great place for families and friends to gather,” she said.
