A Persian-derived term for ‘palace’, Durbar will bring ‘royal flavours’ to the table for locals and tourists alike.
Marrying together the unique tastes of Tasmania’s multicultural communities, owner Badri Awal hopes to delight the appetite for diners craving a heritage-style meal with a ‘unique’ twist.
“As well as stand out cafe food we will be serving authentic Nepalese, Chinese and Indian food.
“It’ll be sweet, it’ll be sour, it’ll be spicy and it will be different from anything else on the Salamanca strip.”
After running Moonah’s beloved Soph Slice Gourmet Pizza Bar for four years, Mr Awal wanted to get back in touch with the sizzling tastes from his homeland.
“We have so many authentic meals on our menu. Our main motto is to bring all communities together.”
Following the restaurant and bar’s opening on Friday, Durbar will be serving breakfast and lunch meals before launching a dinner menu in weeks to come – all freshly made with local Tasmanian produce.
