Tasmanian Premier Will Hodgman says the State Government is continuing to negotiate in good faith to resolve the ongoing pay dispute with public sector unions.

PREMIER Will Hodgman has denied he has no plan to resolve the ongoing pay and conditions dispute with public sector unions.

He insisted the Government was continuing to negotiate in good faith and resolution was possible before the end of this financial year.

“Our negotiating teams are keen to finalise negotiations prior to June 30 to ensure back pay can be paid,” he said.

But Labor MP David O’Byrne said the Government’s dealings with unions had been the most dysfunctional in a generation.

“If everyone is so happy why has it taken 12 months and you still don’t have a deal with any union?” he asked.

Mr Hodgman said the Government had held 113 meetings to negotiate with unions.

He also said the Australian Education Union’s backflip on a deal was “arbitrary and undemocratic”.
