One woman is dead and multiple people have been injured after a horrific crash in the state’s North-West.

At 3.30pm on Tuesday, two cars – a white Holden Rodeo and a blue Land Rover Freelander – collided head-on on the Bass Hwy near Hellyer’s Loosemores Rd.

A 65-year-old female from Crayfish Creek, the driver of the white Holden Rodeo, died as a result of her injuries.

The 32-year-old female driver of the blue Land Rover sustained serious injuries and was transported to the North West Regional Hospital at Burnie.

Three additional passengers in the Land Rover were also taken in a stable condition to that hospital – suffering from a variety of injuries.

Police are asking for anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage to come forward.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
