TASMANIA has recorded the largest annual growth in Seek job ads — but had the lowest average salary for positions posted in January this year.
Jobs advertised on recruitment website Seek have surged 19 per cent in Tasmania from January 2018 — the strongest growth of all states and territories.
Government and Defence positions rose 64 per cent and healthcare advertisements increased by 24 per cent.
The average salary for Tasmanian positions posted in January this year was $76,160 — an annual increase of 1.3 per cent — but the lowest of all states and territories.

Western Australia recorded the highest average salary of $90,361.
Across the nation Seek job ads were up by 0.6 per cent, while the average advertised salary rose 2.5 per cent.
Seek Australia and New Zealand managing director Kendra Banks said 2019 was off to a steady start with strong growth in job ads compared to this time last year.
She said it was no surprise that mining positions continued to dominate the employment market, but it was interesting to see an increased demand for public sector roles, including Government and Defence candidates.
Tasmania also recorded the strongest annual growth in the Department of Jobs and Small Business Internet Vacancy Index of new online job advertisements on SEEK, CareerOne and Australian JobSearch.
