POLICE are searching for a man accused of “menacing staff” with a screw driver and machete in two separate Launceston robberies committed 20 minutes apart.

Acting Detective Inspector John Parker yesterday said Launceston CIB were continuing to investigate the alleged armed robberies, which occurred between 3.45pm and 4.05pm on Saturday.

In the first robbery, the man allegedly intimidated staff at the Invermay News and Lotto with a screw driver and demanded cash.

Det Insp Parker said the same offender then targeted Mowbray Pizza Hut and threatened staff with a machete before stealing a small amount of money.

Police wish to speak with 40-year-old Launceston man Shaun Andrew Blake in relation to the matter.

Anyone who has any information is asked to call Launceston CIB on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperstas.com.au
