A Tasmania Police officer is set to face court early next year after being charged with common assault.
It’s alleged the 38 year old male was on duty in Moonah, on May 10 this year, when an incident occurred.
The officer, who is from the southern district, was served with a summons on Monday to appear in court in February.
“It is not appropriate to make any further comment given the matter is now before the court,” a Tasmania Police spokesperson said.
The officer has been placed on non operational duties.
