Police have arrested a person alleged to have been armed with a knife after an “incident” at Howrah on Tuesday afternoon.
No injuries were reported and Tasmania Police says it believes the incident was “targeted and between people known to each other”.
About 3.15pm, police were called to the scene following a report of a person believed to be armed with a knife who subsequently left the scene in a vehicle.
Officers, including the Special Operations Group, intercepted the vehicle not long after on the South Arm Highway near the police academy at Rokeby.
A knife has been seized and a person is in custody. They are helping police with their inquiries.
