Two teenagers have been accused of stealing cash and a luxury car from a Bellerive home before driving at high speeds and crashing the vehicle. Here’s what they’ve been charged with.

Teens allegedly stole luxury car, speed 200km/h before crashing

June 14, 2.15pm: Police have charged two teenagers with a raft of offences after allegedly stealing a luxury vehicle before going on a high-speed chase.

Officers believe a 15-year-old from Clarendon Vale and a 16-year-old from Rokeby entered a Bellerive home through an unlocked door at around 3.30am.

It is suspected they then stole cash and car keys to a luxury vehicle.

Police say using those keys the pair stole the vehicle and evaded police in the Bellerive area a short time later.

They allege the teenagers were then detected speeding in excess of 200km/h on the Brooker Highway at Granton before crashing the vehicle in Bridgewater.

Officers say they conducted a search of a Clarendon Vale home and arrested a 15-year-old who was subsequently charged and bailed to appear in court at a later date.

This morning, police say they searched a Rokeby residence and arrested a 16-yaer-old who was also subsequently charged. They are set to appear in court this afternoon.

The teenagers were charged with aggravated burglary, stealing, motor vehicle stealing, evade police, driving without a licence, exceeding the speed limit and computer related fraud.

Men charged after raids reveal MDMA, ice, pill presses

Police say they’re cracking down on the manufacture of illicit drugs in Tasmania, after two men were charged during separate raids which allegedly uncovered MDMA, ice and pill presses.

Police say a “significant” quantity of unknown substances were found during a search of a Moltema property in March.

Authorities say the search was triggered after cannabis plants were found on the property.

A 29-year-old Deloraine was charged with trafficking, drug possession and manufacturing a controlled drug for sale.

The second search took place at a Kings Meadows home at the end of May, where police allegedly seized drugs, a silencer and cash.

A 32-year-old Launceston man was charged with trafficking and manufacturing a controlled drug.

“These drugs have the potential to cause significant harm to the Tasmanian community,” he said,” Tasmania Police detective acting inspector Jason Jones said.

Traffic flowing slowly after single vehicle crash on highway

3.55pm: Police report traffic is still flowing, however have cautioned for motorists to slow down after a single vehicle crash on the Tasman Peninsula.

Emergency services are at Arthur Highway at Eaglehawk Neck, the scene of the incident.

Officers say no serious injuries have been reported at this stage.

Green ute seized following alleged early morning evade

9.45am: Investigations are underway into an alleged evade incident in New Norfolk after police say they’ve seized a green ute.

Officers report patrolling the town about 3am when they attempted to intercept a green Mitsubishi Triton near Warner Ave.

Police say the driver reportedly refused to stop and allegedly evaded officers.

The vehicle was located and seized by police a short time later, they say.

Police say the occupants of the vehicle have been identified and investigations are continuing.

Crashes across the state as wet weather causes havoc

Earlier: Tasmania police have issued an alert of large pot holes emerging on the Bass Highway’s westbound lane between Mt Hicks Rd and Doctors Rocks in the state’s North-West.

10.30am: The earlier crash reported at the intersection of Bass Highway and Rulla Rd at Sisters Creek has been cleared.

No serious injuries were reported.

9.50am: The tree impacting Devonport-bound motorists has been cleared from the Bass Highway at Ulverstone.

9.37am: Another crash has occurred at Sisters Creek with police on the scene of an incident near the intersection of the Bass Highway and Rulla Rd.

Motorists have been asked to slow down in the area.

Officers say no serious injuries have been reported.

9.24am: Police report the Bridgewater Bridge has been cleared from the earlier crash with no injuries reported.

9.18am: A large tree has reported fallen onto the Bass Highway near Ulverstone.

Motorists who are Devonport bound will be impacted with the lane blocked between Lovett and Eastland Sts.

June 11, 9.05am: Tasmania Police say they’re responding to reports of a crash on the Bridgewater Bridge.

Motorists have been told to avoid the area or expect delays.

Officers say no injuries have been reported at this stage.

This comes as police urge motorists to drive to the conditions, with parts of the state being lashed with heavy rain and wind.

Police have asked motorists to take care, slow down and put on their headlights.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, emergency services cleared a crash in the state’s North-West.

A person was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following the Myalla Rd, Sisters Creek incident.
