THERE will be no Christmas present for those hoping to see the completion of the city’s $11 million Bridge of Remembrance.
On Friday, a Hobart City Council spokesman confirmed it had yet to be advised of a new date for the lift by contractor Fulton Hogan but said it would not be before Christmas.
The works will not happen until next year.
The lifting of the span of the bridge was meant to happen at the weekend of October 12-14 but was delayed because the contractor was not satisfied with the finish of the cladding.
The raising of the span was then rescheduled to the weekend of November 2-4 but then cancelled because of bad weather. Bad weather once again foiled plans for the works to happen at the November 23-25 weekend.
