An “enthusiastic volunteer” has been blamed for posting a video to Senator Jacqui Lambie’s social media accounts that attracted criticism.
On Monday morning, a video was posted to her Instagram account depicting a cow falling out of the back of a trailer and a caption saying “this is me getting out of bed in the morning”.
The post attracted negative comments from many who viewed it, with some accusing Senator Lambie of promoting animal cruelty.
“This is shocking. Clear animal abuse from the kind of farmers I loathe,” one comment said.
“This is terrible, Jacqui. There is nothing funny about animal cruelty, poor cow,” another said.
One person even commented that they would unfollow the senator on social media and questioned how she could find it funny.
A spokesperson for Senator Lambie said the video had been removed from her social media accounts.
“The video was put up by an enthusiastic volunteer.
“Jacqui apologises if anyone was distressed by the post; she does not condone animal cruelty in any form.”
