SCHOOLS in the Huon Valley will reopen from this week now that the bushfire threat has eased.
“Based on advice from the Tasmanian Fire Service, and in the interests of student safety, a number of schools in the Huon Valley were shut, but have been deemed safe to reopen,” Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff said.
HUON VALLEY: WE’RE HERE, WE’RE OPEN, WE’RE STICKING AROUND
Students at Dover District School will recommence on Wednesday, and Geeveston Primary School on Thursday.
Franklin and Glen Huon primary schools will reopen on Monday, February 18.
Students will be able to attend their alternative school site up until their school resumes operation.
The Geeveston Child and Family Centre and the Geeveston Library will also reopen on Tuesday.
Forecast rain over the coming days will continue to ease the fire risk across the state and is allowing Fire Service incident controllers to reassess their resources. It has also allowed many crews an opportunity to gain some rest.
