Tasmania and the Northern Territory remain the only state or territory in Australia without a store from the German founded store.

Aldi first came to Australia in 2001 and have since opened more than 570 stores across the country, with over 13,500 staff on their books.

A spokesman for Aldi hosed down speculation a store may be opening.

“We will always consider the feasibility of new locations however at this stage, Aldi has no plans to open stores in Hobart.”
