THE current production of Rosehaven is expected to generate more than $2 million for the local economy, says Arts Minister Elise Archer.
Visiting the show on location at Longley, Ms Archer said the hit TV show’s budget for season three was $4.5 million and out of that, $2 million was expected to be spent on Tasmanian goods and services.
More than 50 local cast and crew members have been recruited to help bring the comedy to life.
The show is four weeks into a seven-week filming schedule across southern Tasmania.
“As well as providing economic benefits for the state, Rosehaven has created invaluable professional development and job opportunities for Tasmanian screen practitioners,” Ms Archer said.
“Through Screen Tasmania’s attachment and trainee program, eight talented Tasmanians are working on set and alongside industry professionals across a range of different roles.”
Ms Archer said the experience would help develop Tasmanian talent and keep skills in the state.
The show, which premiered in 2016, stars Tasmanian Luke McGregor and Celia Pacquola.
Pacquola and McGregor told the Mercury they were happy to be back filming in the state.
Pacqoula said fans of the series could expect a few new faces, new locations and character development this year.
“If you’re watching from season one, we are playing more with characters that you already know a bit about,” she said.
The series is being filmed at a range of Tasmanian locations including Oatlands, Geeveston, New Norfolk, Longley, Richmond, Seven Mile Beach, Mountain River, Brighton and Chigwell.
The third season of Rosehaven will screen later this year on ABC-TV.
