Drivers have a touch of the Tassie charm in the Apple Isle according to new data revealing the state received the fewest votes for showcasing rudeness, danger or aggression behind the wheel.
Reputations were on the line in a recent survey by car insurance comparison site iSelect who polled 3002 Australian drivers about motorists behaviour.

Tasmania was only topped by the Northern Territory for the least rude drivers, with heavily populated eastern states taking out the podium places for the rudest.
Aussies also ranked Tasmania the least dangerous drivers, with 3.1 per cent of the votes compared to table-topping NSW on 33.3 per cent.
The island state was given the crown of most cautious drivers by garnering nearly a quarter of the votes.
While Australia also doesn’t view Tassie as a bunch of leadfoots, saying its home to the slowest drivers in the nation.
iSelect found most drivers picked their own state as the best drivers, but regularly found Tasmania was placed as second.
“Whether it’s the quieter roads, the tight-knit communities, or just a touch of Tassie charm, the road manners of drivers from the state seem to have made a lasting impression,” iSelect said.
“While they didn’t quite make the countrywide top three, Tasmanian drivers were frequently seen by other states as the second-best drivers.”
iSelect general manager Adrian Bennett said the research had also highlighted some serious concerns.
“Speeding, aggressive driving and reckless behaviour don’t just fuel stereotypes, they can lead to accidents, costly repairs, and even voided insurance policies,” Mr Bennett said.
“No matter what car you drive, it pays to be cautious.”
He said the company encouraged all drivers to be safe on the road: “because at the end of the day, a reputation for dangerous driving isn’t just a bad stereotype — it could lead to life-threatening accidents and serious hits to your wallet.”
