ONE of the state’s fastest growing tourism employers is looking to boost staff numbers as it prepares for the peak summer season.

RACT Destinations, which employs about 170 staff at three iconic properties and Gordon River Cruises, will hold tourism career information sessions this weekend in Hobart and Burnie.

RACT general manager, tourism, Adrian Sampson, said they would recruit an additional 90 staff in the next few weeks, with some due to begin work as early as next month.

“RACT Destinations is seeking to employ people who are passionate about our state,’’ he said.

‘‘Our properties are either in, or close to, beautiful natural environments like Strahan, Cradle Mountain and the Freycinet Peninsula.

“We’re looking for staff who can provide excellent service and actively promote the state to our visitors,” Mr Sampson said.

RACT Destinations is seeking food and beverage attendants, chefs, reception staff, kitchen attendants, housekeepers, and tourist guides as well as retail roles.

Some of the positions require specific skill sets. For others, previous experience in the hospitality and tourism sector would be valuable, but not essential.

The sessions will be held on Saturday at 11am at RACT Burnie Branch, 24 North Terrace, Burnie and on Sunday at 11am at RACT House, 179-191 Murray St, Hobart.
