ESSENTIAL industry information for the new Bridgewater Bridge has been made available to pre-qualified construction companies.

Transport Minister Michael Ferguson said project information relating to context, background, procurement timing and milestones had been published on the Transport website and made available for pre-qualified contractors.

The new Bridgewater Bridge is part of a $576m investment from the federal and state governments to build a new four-lane bridge to reduce congestion for the 22,000 vehicles crossing it each day.

“Involving contractors in the early stages of the project design allows for closer involvement in the development of the designs, providing opportunities for industry innovation and construction efficiencies,” Mr Ferguson said.

“Projects of this size and scale are incredibly complex and carry substantial commercial and legal risk, including in procurement, planning and construction, and it is important we have experts managing that risk.”

The development has come under fire in recent weeks for not including rail plans.
