Has performed the role of Attorney-General with the same authority and competence she displayed as Speaker. A steady and ambitious performer who will play a key role in the performance of the Government over the next 12 months.

3/18BACON, Scott: C.
A feisty performer in Parliament, constantly testing the Speaker. Has potential to show more leadership given his experience, but to show a little more focus on his portfolio areas and to be more proactive on key issues.

4/18O’CONNOR, Cassy: B+.
Smart, hardworking and keen and able to hold the Government to account. Consistently the best performer in State Parliament and a consistent voice for accountability and democracy. Has struggled to lift the party’s electoral success.

5/18HADDAD, Ella: B-.
A capable newcomer working hard to get on top of a new portfolio. Has terrific potential but needs to lift her public profile. Chalked up an impressive an early win on the transgender laws.

6/18HICKEY, Sue: A.
Made a major splash with a dramatic elevation to Speaker. Has shown a strong independent streak. Enjoys strong popular support from across a broad spectrum of her electorate, if not from within her own Liberal Party. A clear and honest voice for improving outcomes in parliament.

7/18FRANKLIN.
8/18HODGMAN, Will: B.
Provides steady leadership to a Government that has seemingly lurched from crisis to crisis of late, although does to appear a little wearied at times — probably from being overburdened. One of the Government’s best assets, whose self-belief rings through and is reflectively approachable and accountable.

9/18O’BYRNE, David: B+.
Solid engagement with his electorate and good performance in Parliament. Often spoken of as a potential alternative leader, despite a long track record of public loyalty.

10/18PETRUSMA, Jacquie: C+.
Taking time to regroup after a concerted campaign against her over her handling of Human Services. Has been a strong advocate for women’s sport, and a brave voice on domestic violence.

11/18STANDEN, Alison: D.
Newly elected and recently given responsibility for housing, climate change and parks. Plenty of room to score some runs and to build a bigger profile.

12/18WOODRUFF, Rosalie: C+.
Performs well in Parliament as deputy to Cassy O’Connor. Smart, consistent and passionate about core Greens issues, but suffers from the big workload of a broad portfolio responsibility
in a two-MP party.

14/18BARNETT, Guy: B-.
A hard worker, competent, but unimaginative. Displays an uncanny ability to never stray far seem the the script, repeating key lines ad infinitum.

15/18HIDDING, Marinus (Rene): D
Absent fail. His last of 23 years in State Parliament wasn’t his most notable. He didn’t show much spark after being pipped for the Speaker’s role by Sue Hickey on the first sitting day after the election last year.

16/18BUTLER, Jen: C+.
Another newcomer who has a job ahead to stand out in a crowded field. Her potential has been recognised with a series of middling portfolios, which might just give her the opportunity she needs, though it will take a lot of work. Wins points for having been notably active during the Anglican Church sell-off debate.

17/18SHELTON, Mark: C.
Affable and well-liked but overlooked for a ministerial position, he must surely have more of a future than as a dependable committee man and the reader of Dorothy Dixers. Deserves the right to show his mettle in the coming year.

18/18WHITE, Rebecca: B.
Good leadership and engagement in Parliament and a solid performer in the community but needs to work on her media profile and shake off a slight siege mentality. Consistently outperforms Will Hodgman as preferred Premier, but has a big task ahead to take his job.
