AN Image of our state’s specialist medics captures the positive spirits of a team of technicians tasked with conducting coronavirus testing.
In a Facebook post this week, Royal Hobart Hospital medical scientist Angie Jackson shared a photo of eight “superstar” scientists and technicians of the RHH’s Molecular Medicine Laboratory.
The team has spent the past few weeks performing COVID-19 testing for Tasmanian patients.
“They are working unbelievably hard behind the scenes in a high-risk environment processing an unprecedented numbers of samples,” Ms Jackson said.

“In fact, they are so focused and determined that getting them together for a photo was like herding cats.”
Ms Jackson said RHH scientists and technicians deserved as much acknowledgment as Tasmania’s hardworking doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other health workers.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a lot of appreciation for our frontline staff, and don’t get me wrong, they are doing an incredible job,” she said.
“But let’s not forget these Tassie men and women who come to work every day to perform testing for the entire state.”
More than 1700 coronavirus tests have been conducted in Tasmania while in excess of 256,000 have been undertaken nationally.
