A Bandido outlaw motorcycle club member who was found guilty of assault and aggravated burglary in July this year has been sentenced to two years in prison.

Todd Michael Walker met Zdravko Sujica in early 2018 at the Bandidos East Devonport clubhouse.

The court heard Mr Sujica was believed to owe $2000, a debt which was imposed by the club for causing bad publicity.

Mr Sujica had entered an arrangement to pay in instalments, but no payments were made.

In June that same year, Walker went to Mr Sujica’s home in Latrobe, where he lived with his elderly aunt, with the intent of collecting the debt.

When Mr Sujica’s aunt answered the door, Walker instructed her to wake Mr Sujica.

When Mr Sujica came to the door, Walker attempted to punch him.

After the punch, a man with a stocking on his head who was armed with a tomahawk, entered the home and struck Mr Sujica, injuring his hand.

Both men began punching and kicking Mr Sujica while other men entered the house and stood by.

Justice Robert Pearce said the other men were present for intimidation.

Mr Sujica did not make a victim impact statement, but in her statement, Mr Sujica’s aunt said she “no longer feels safe in her home.”

In sentencing, Justice Pearce noted Walker had a number of prior convictions and had previously served time for common assault and trafficking firearms.

Justice Pearce said Mr Sujica’s Aunt was unnecessarily made a victim by Walker’s actions.

“She had nothing to do with whatever grievance you had with Mr Sujica,” Justice Pearce said.

“There’s been no expression of remorse.”

Justice Pearce said while he wasn’t the only one who committed violent offences, Walker was responsible as the instigator.

“You are criminally responsible for all of the violence,” Justice Pearce said.

The 37 year old’s two year sentence was backdated to July this year.

He’ll be eligible for parole in July 2022 after serving half of his sentence.
