THE family of five-year-old cancer patient Ned Isham is hoping to confirm a generous six-figure donation towards a trial treatment in the US either today or tomorrow.
Ned was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia when he was two and last year the family relocated from Kingston to Melbourne so he could receive a bone-marrow transplant from his sister Eleanor.

Last month, the family found out the treatment had failed, meaning their last chance was an expensive clinical trial at the Seattle Children’s Hospital in the US state of Washington.
His mother Emily Isham said all up, including the treatment, medication, living expenses and travel, the treatment would cost $680,000. The family had set up a GoFundMe page to raise money but on Saturday an anonymous donor offered the remaining money needed.
The GoFundMe page has raised $83,000, but the family has paused donations until confirmation is made about the donor’s pledge. His mother is hoping Ned can go to the US early next month once funding is confirmed.
