The Tricks and Hacks to Winning the Lottery

UPDATED: The mystery winner of $23 million in last night’s Oz Lotto has still not come forward.

Jaana Jarrad — from the Hobart City Lotto in the Wellington Centre where the ticket was sold — said they still did not know who had bought the ticket.

“No one has come in, so we still don’t know who has got it,” Ms Jarrad said.

She said although the lotto outlet had sold a few division-two winning tickets, this was the most lucrative win to date.

“We’ve sold some division-two tickets, but nothing near $23 million.”

Suprisingly, the latest win ranks second in the biggest lottery prizes ever to land in Tasmania.

The biggest win in Tasmania’s TattsLotto history was $30 million, picked up by a ticket holder in Sorell last September.

That incredibly lucky soul also took a couple of days to claim their prize.

The Hobart Oz Lotto entry was one of the three division-one winning entries in draw 1310 on Tuesday night and will take home an eyewatering division-one prize of $23,333,333.34.

The winning entry is not registered to a Tatts Card, so Tatts officials have no way of contacting the winner to break the big news and have to wait until the ticketholder makes contact to claim their prize.

Tatts spokeswoman Bronwyn Spencer said Hobart lottery players had 23 million good reasons to check their tickets.

“Imagine walking around with this winning ticket in your wallet, in your back pocket, tucked into your purse or floating around in the bottom of your handbag,” she said in a statement.

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1310 last night were 12, 28, 24, 29, 9, 18 and 25. The supplementary numbers were 13 and 31.

EARLIER: ONE lucky Hobart Oz Lotto entrant is more than $23 million richer today — but they may not know it yet.

The division-one winning Tasmanian entry was unregistered, meaning lottery officials have no way to contact the ticketholder and must wait for them to check their own ticket.

It was bought at Hobart City Lotto in the Wellington Centre.

Three entries shared in last night’s $70 million Oz Lotto prize, including two held by one Melbourne man, with each entry taking home a division one prize of $23,333,333.34.

“You may not think it’s possible that you could be the division-one winner we’re searching for, but if you purchased an unregistered entry in this week’s Oz Lotto draw that you haven’t checked yet, you’re in with a chance.

“We’re urging all Oz Lotto players to check their entries as soon as possible and if you discover you are holding the division one winning ticket to contact us on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”
