Multiple vehicle crash on Southern Outlet causes headaches for Hobart motorists

Commuters heading into Hobart this morning are facing traffic chaos after a multiple vehicle smash on the Southern Outlet with traffic banked up back to Kingston.

UPDATED: A peak hour crash on the Southern Outlet has been cleared but commuters travelling into Hobart this morning are still facing significant delays.

Motorists have suffered through traffic headaches after a multiple vehicle smash on the Southern Outlet.

Emergency crews responded to the collision on the northbound, steep downhill section of the Southern Outlet about 7.30am.

Police said the right lane was completely blocked.

No injuries have been reported at this stage.

“There will be significant delays for the traffic heading towards Hobart, as Tasmania Police, Tasmania Ambulance and Tasmania Fire Service crews work to clear the scene,” police said.

At 8am traffic was banked up back to Kingston, 10km from the crash site, with delays affecting motorists who hadn’t got on to the Southern Outlet yet.

Summerleas Rd was also affected with delays back to Kingston High School.
