A pair of Glenorchy men charged over a more than $4.5m meth bust will head to trial, a court has heard.

Mark Anthony Chatters and Craig Douglas Fisher appeared by video link into the Supreme Court of Tasmania on Wednesday morning, where prosecutors gave an update to their cases.

Both Fisher and Chatters have pleaded not guilty to counts of attempting to possess a quantity of border controlled drugs.

Police allege they intercepted three kilograms of methylamphetamine, worth about $4.5 million as a result of a joint operation between Tasmania Police, Australian Federal Police and Border Force.

The court was told time had been allocated for a trial starting in early May.

Prosecution asked to adjourn the matter to March for a further mention, with the hopes that the Crown would have filed papers by that time.

Fisher’s matter was also adjourned for a date in March.

Both were remanded in custody.
