A BRIDGEWATER man stabbed in Pontville has died in hospital.
Zachary Hyde, 20, was stabbed in the leg in an altercation in Ford Road soon after midnight on Sunday.
Police said the knife punctured the man’s femoral artery, causing significant blood loss.
Mr Hyde had been in a critical condition in the Royal Hobart Hospital since Sunday but died on Tuesday afternoon.
Tasmania Police are considering whether to upgrade charges against Dee-Jay Feil, 19, of Bridgewater, whom they alleged stabbed him with a kitchen knife.
Glenorchy CIB detectives will talk to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions before making a decision.
Mr Feil has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and was remanded after appearing in Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday.
He did not enter a plea.
The two men were part of a group drinking at the Crown Inn in the lead-up to the stabbing, which happened several hundred metres down the road from the pub.
