THE development of Macquarie Point continues to move ahead, with an ‘edible precinct‘ set to open early next year.

Billed as Australia’s largest edible precinct, it will be open to the public and used by nearby restaurants.

Native bush foods will be planted alongside European species to “begin the story of reconciliation”.

Macquarie Point Development Corporation chief executive Mary Massina said an edible precinct was the perfect fit for the site.

She said the precinct was another example of how the Macquarie Point site was being opened up.

“While it may not have the size or scale of some of the developments that we are working on for the site, it’s no less significant because it will help tell a story and be a real point of difference for Macquarie Point.”

Macquarie Point is teaming up with Gardening Australia personalities Tino Carnevale and Angus Stewart on the project, as well as Aboriginal horticulturalist Kris Schafer.
