Tasmania’s parliament remains in a deadlock after a no-confidence motion against Premier Jeremy Rockliff was passed.

Mr Rockliff has not resigned in the wake of the no-confidence in his leadership, the Liberals have nominated no alternative leader and Opposition leader Dean Winter has ruled out forming government with the support of the Greens.

Mr Rockliff visited Governor Barbara Baker after the budget bills passed to ask her to call an election almost three years early.

However, the Governor says she will be ‘taking the time necessary’ to weigh up options before triggering another poll.
