Lifeline to hold Out of the Shadows walk in Hobart ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day

Tasmanians will converge on Parliament Lawns in a show of solidarity for families who have lost loved ones to suicide for Lifeline’s Out of the Shadows march.
Shining a light on the stigma surrounding suicide ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day, the intitiative aims to remind Tasmanians they are not alone.
People will gather on Parliament Lawns at 6am on Friday to hear speeches and participate in a walk around the Hobart waterfront in honour of the cause.
Lifeline Tasmania CEO Debbie Evans said the event is an important way for the community to show their support.
“Out of the Shadows is a safe space for people who have lost loved ones to suicide to reflect and remember,” she said
“It is also a visual reminder that no matter how you may feel, you are not alone.”
Lifeline’s help line receives a call every 30 seconds with over 1 million Australians reaching out to Lifeline every year.
For its 11th year the free event will include live music and a breakfast supplied by Davey Street Garage and Rotary.
