TASMANIAN country music stars Tom and Nick Wolfe have paid tribute to their mum Lee, who has died aged 64.

As well as being the mum of one of the state’s biggest musical exports, Mrs Wolfe was also a well-known member of the Kingborough community.

Mrs Wolfe was a popular teachers’ aide at St Aloysius College, working mainly in kinder.

Tom and Nick Wolfe took to Instagram on Wednesday night to announce their mum’s death:

“I can’t even believe this has happened but we are beyond heartbroken to inform you all that we lost our beautiful mum Lee. To say it is a shock and a surprise is an understatement.

Nick, Greg and I have tried really hard to contact as many close friends and family as possible to let you know personally but if we have missed you please forgive us,” Tom posted.

“The rock of our family, the light of our lives. Mum, Mrs Wolfe, Aunty Lee Lee, Nan Nan...we love ya so much xx

“Back with Dad now.”

Nick Wolfe said the family was feeling “utterly shattered”

“I’m blessed with amazing family and friends of course, but mum was the anchor of our family, the one who’d pick up the pieces when life threw challenges our way. She’s irreplaceable and we are all feeling a huge void and finding it so hard to imagine what life will be like now with her gone,” Nick posted.

Mrs Wolfe had been suffering from cancer.

Together with her late husband Malcolm, Mrs Wolfe instilled a love of music in her talented sons.

According to the band’s biography she filled the family home with music, exposing her children to 90s country staples like Garth Brooks and Billy Ray Cyrus.
