Kingborough Council warns swimmers to stay away from Kingston Beach

If you had plans for a cool afternoon swim at a popular suburban beach, you might want to reschedule, after a sewage spill was found.

The Kingborough Council has warned swimmers to stay away from Kingston Beach today, after a sewage spill was detected in the area.

The council took its message to Facebook this morning, to alert the public to the incident, which it is investigating.

“Council staff have discovered a sewer spill at the Kingston Beach Yacht Club, stormwater outfall,” they said.

“TasWater have been notified and are currently on site working to resolve the spill.

“Signs have been placed in the area advising not to swim.”

The council said it would provide an update when more information was available.
