For more than 165 years, the Mercury has been at the forefront of reporting on news, sport, public debate and entertainment in Tasmania. With our seven-day multi-platform operation to both inform and challenge, the Mercury is The Voice of Tasmania. It shares tears and cheers, stimulates discussion and action, records and presents major news events and is a vital part of the fabric of Tasmania.
Every day, the Mercury’s dedicated Tasmanian team sets out determined to do all the good we can in serving this state that we love. And because of that hard work, the Mercury is proudly a central part of daily life.
We are looking for two experienced journalists to join our team, to continue a proud tradition of informing and advocating on behalf of communities the length and breadth of Tasmania.
One of the roles is for an experienced reporter based on the north-west coast, covering all things pertinent to the lives of Tasmanians living in this beautiful and vibrant patch of our pristine state. You will be a part of the community, providing a megaphone to celebrate local successes and achievements, but also to shine a spotlight on anything adversely affecting the lives of our regional readers.
The other position is based in The Mercury’s Hobart office as Digital Editor. This senior role calls for an experienced journalist capable of driving Mercury content across our mobile and desktop platforms, harnessing best-practice SEO skills as well as attention-grabbing social media engagement. You will be required to develop and manage a comprehensive premium content plan to maintain maximum engagement with our ever-growing online audience.
Both roles call for skilled media professionals, so only journalists with proven newsroom experience will be considered.
