SECTIONS of the Hobart Waterfront have been taped off by police as the search continues for an interstate man who has not been seen since the early hours of Sunday morning.
It appears officers investigating the disappearance of Jarrod Davies suspect he may have fallen in the water near Elizabeth Street Pier or Franklin Wharf.
At least eight plain-clothed detectives, police divers and uniformed officers saturated the area on Monday afternoon.
Police tape was blocking public entry at the far end of Elizabeth Street Pier, which overlooks the River Derwent.
Mr Davies, of Leongatha in Victoria, was last seen on the Hobart waterfront in the early hours of Sunday morning and was possibly at the Observatory Bar sometime after midnight.
A CCTV image showed the 27-year-old last wearing beige pants, a black T-shirt and red Vans skateboarding shoes.
He is described as being about 170cm tall with short dark hair, a nose ring and tattoos, including a palm tree on his left forearm.
Anyone who saw him or has information that could help locate him is asked to call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000
