A Queensland man has pleaded guilty over charges relating to an incident during a flight to Hobart where he vaped on-board an aeroplane and told a staff member to “f*** off”.
Jai Brodie Spiteri, 27, appeared via phone call at Hobart Magistrates Court on Tuesday over two counts of using abusive language to a police officer, two counts of threatening a police officer and one count of offensive and disorderly behaviour in an aircraft.
The man who hails from Norman Gardens in Rockhampton, Queensland pleaded guilty to all charges.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Michael Daly described allegations that on May 14 in Cambridge Spiteri had called a police officer a “f***ing idiot”, abused a senior constable and threatened a constable saying “if you let me out with him I’ll bash him”.
Mr Daly read out another statement claiming Spiteri had said “I’m going to have a vendetta and I’m going to end these c***s” about the police officers.
The magistrate also put to Spiteri he had behaved in an offensive and disorderly manner by vaping on an aircraft and abusing staff.
Court documents claim the flight was from Coolangatta, Gold Coast.
Spiteri’s case was adjourned to appear back in Hobart Magistrates Court on August 18.
