A FORMER Tasmanian dance duo who have both found immense international success are putting on a massive event in the state this weekend.
Tassie expat Lockhart Brownlie has lived in Los Angeles for the past 12 years, touring the world with the likes of Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears, while his former dance partner growing up in Tasmania Renee Ritchie has had dazzling success choreographing for Paula Abdul and performing internationally.
Now the pair have taken time away from their lives in LA to direct the Tasmanian Dance Expo this weekend at Wrest Point.
“We both came from Tasmania, we both had big dreams, big ideas and we both stuck with it and persevered and dreamt big and didn’t let being from a smaller state limit us,” Brownlie said.
Ritchie said about 1000 people would be involved, including 500 troupe competitors.
Solo and troupe dancers will compete on Friday, Saturday will include more competition and workshop classes with interstate mentors, while Sunday will feature more kids’ classes and the Galaxy Gala, a showcase of the finalists.
