VANDALS may have may have left behind a clue as to their identity after causing considerably damage to the Huonville pool over the long weekend.
The Huon Council posted on Facebook on Wednesday morning that the Huonville swimming pool had been broken into on Sunday and Monday.
However, a star-shaped trinket was found at the pool, which the council suspects may have been left behind by the vandals by mistake.
On Sunday morning, council staff found the cover of the large pool pulled back, with the pool steps and lifeguard tower thrown in the water.
The smaller pool also had its cover support pushed into the water along with two wheelie bins.
On Monday, staff found the cleaner’s trolley thrown down a deep pit and graffiti was also found along the pool deck.
“Incidents like this cost significant council time and money, creates stress for members of staff, and puts people at risk of injury,” the council’s post stated.
“Our staff worked miracles to pull the heavy objects out of the water and make the area clean and safe so that the doors could open right on time each morning, with swimmers presumably unaware of the mammoth task that had just been completed.”
