Human remains found near Mt Charles in Wellington Park
UPDATED: Police say human remains found by walkers in Wellington Park are believed to belong to a Huonville man who has been missing since 2013.

TASMANIA Police say human remains located in Wellington Park could belong to a Huonville man who was last seen in 2013.
Acting Inspector Darren Latham said a group of bushwalkers discovered bones and camping gear near Mt Charles during an expedition on Monday.
“My understanding is that the area isn’t readily accessible and it’s quite possible that this man has been there for some time,” Acting Inspector Darren Latham said.
“There are a number of very large walking tracks and fire trails up through that way, but if you move off track a few metres you can’t see anything.”
Police officers from Search and Rescue, Glenorchy Criminal Investigation Branch and Marine Services used four-wheel drives to access the site and conduct an examination of the scene.
Documents found near the remains indicated they belonged to Dale Godfrey, who was last seen camping in an area below Mount Wellington on March 1, 2013.
Acting Inspector Latham said Mr Godfrey’s daughter raised concerns with police about her father’s whereabouts in 2014 but he was not formally reported missing until 2017.
DNA analysis would be carried out to confirm the identification.
Before going missing, Mr Godfrey had spent most of his time living in the Huonville area and was an experienced camper who enjoyed fishing at the local lakes.
Mr Godfrey’s family have been notified and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
“Clearly this is a difficult time for any family member and our thoughts are with them,” Acting Inspector Latham said.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
